DescriptionImprovisational Strip Quilt. Ten Rows, from 2 1/2” to 8 1/2” wide, of horizontal strips with strips varying in length from 1 1/2” to 3 1/2”. Strips are of multiple colors, weaves, textures, and textiles hand-stitched together to form vertical rows. Rows of sashing 1 1/2” - 3 1/2” in multiple fabrics separate the vertical rows of horizontal strips. Hand pieced and quilted. Wide green separate binding on all edges except for proper left edge where strip row on that side is folded over to back to form binding. Cotton Batting. White cotton back, probably of different vintage than front. At top are two signs of appliquéd and embroidered faded flowers, leaves. At back lower center is an approximately 21” tall basket of flowers, leaves, ribbons, butterflies, all embroidered and appliquéd in same faded pastel colors as at top. 4 3/4” wide hanging sleeve top back machine applied.Status
